New York City has thousands of hotels, and you do not need to stay on the Upper East Side to have an easy trip to the festival.
Our Recommended Area
For a convenient and often more affordable option, we recommend looking for accommodations in Midtown East, Murray Hill, Kips Bay, or the Flatiron area, particularly near the 6 subway line between 23rd and 33rd Streets.
Hotels in the East 20s and 30s are often less expensive than comparable options near the festival venue, while still offering an easy trip uptown.

The closest subway station is 77th Street on the 6 train, followed by a short walk to the venue. The 6 train also stops at 23rd, 28th, and 33rd Streets, making these areas especially convenient for festival guests. One ride on the subway costs only $3 and you can go anywhere in the city!
What to Look for When Booking
We suggest searching for hotels near one of these subway stations:
23rd Street on the 6 train
Convenient to the Flatiron District, Gramercy, and the northern edge of the East Village.
28th Street on the 6 train
A central location near NoMad, Kips Bay, and many restaurants and cafés.
33rd Street on the 6 train
A convenient choice for Murray Hill and Midtown East, with a direct subway ride to 77th Street. The station is located around Park Avenue and East 33rd Street.
When viewing a hotel, check its walking distance to the 6 train, rather than simply looking at its distance from the festival venue. A hotel within a few blocks of the subway can make traveling to and from the festival much easier.
Additional Areas to Consider
You may also find convenient accommodations near:
Grand Central and Midtown East, close to the 4, 5, and 6 subway lines
East 50s near Lexington Avenue, approximately halfway between downtown and the venue
Upper East Side, for guests who prefer to stay within walking distance or a very short ride from Hungarian House
The Upper East Side is the closest option, but rooms there may be more expensive or limited. Staying farther downtown can offer more choices for restaurants, sightseeing, and hotel pricing.

The hotel’s distance from a 6 train station
Taxes, facility fees, or destination fees

Room size and bed configuration
Whether the reservation can be changed if your travel plans shift
You may also wish to compare traditional hotels with apartment-style hotels, hostels with private rooms, and accommodations shared with other festival attendees.
Traveling to the Festival
From the East 20s or 30s:
Take an uptown 6 train to 77th Street.
Exit near Lexington Avenue.
Walk north and east to Hungarian House at 213 East 82nd Street.
